ABRAHAM LINCOLN: NUMBERS - Part 1

I am rather inclined to silence, and whether that be wise or not,
it is at least more unusual nowadays to find a man
who can hold his tongue than to find one who cannot.

The will of God prevails.
Abraham Lincoln

ABRAHAM LINCOLN was, arguably, the greatest president in the history of the United States of America. A true leader, Lincoln led. He did not poll the people to see what they were thinking and then construct agendas, press conferences and speeches to pander to the passing fancies and desires of the people as do politicians of today, who, frankly, are more "pollsters" than leaders. Lincoln had substance. Grit. Ethics. Backbone. Resolve. Wisdom. Courage and a relentless tenacity to do what was right, not what was personally profitable. He had a firm belief in and understanding of God, as noted in his quote, "The will of God prevails." Perhaps this is why he was such a great soul, such an unparalleled leader - he got it. He understood the divinity behind life and his mission in life. Without Lincoln, the great ideal that America is would, most likely, never have succeeded. It is unfortunate that more individuals, especially presidents, do not possess his enormous character and unyielding spirit.

But what makes a man so great? What gives him the substance, the awe-inspiring depth, the unrelenting courage and resolve to keep a country together when it's falling apart, brother fighting brother, families killing one another, opposing ideals clashing in pools of blood serving as the fodder for endless tears, sorrow, suffering and pain? In truth, for any man to handle such adversity is remarkable, but for any one man to hold an entire nation together when it's falling apart borders on the miraculous. Unquestionably, Abraham Lincoln was a man of unparalleled magnitude and supernal stature.

Lincoln's numbers reveal his greatness. First, let's take a look at his Simple Basic Matrix:

Expression 6
Lifepath 5
Performance Experience 11-2
Soul 9
Material Soul 5
Nature 6
Material Nature 11-2
Void 7

Lifepath

Born on 12 February 1809, Abraham Lincoln's Simple Lifepath was a Five (5) - the number of freedom and slavery (1 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 8 + 0 + 9 = 23 > 2 + 3 = 5). Lincoln's Natural Soul (from the vowels in his name) is a Nine (9). His Material Soul is a Five (5). The Material Soul is a combination of the Natural Soul plus the Lifepath (see The King's Book of Numerology, Volume 1, Foundations & Fundamentals). Therefore, Lincoln's 9 Soul plus his 5 Lifepath equal a 5 Material Soul (9 + 5 = 14 > 1 + 4 = 5). Interestingly, the United States of America also has a Five Lifepath as designated by its birthdate of 4 July 1776 (4 + 7 + 1 + 7 + 7 + 6 = 32 > 3 + 2 = 5), the same as Lincoln's. Therefore, like Lincoln, the United States of America's main life lesson was also freedom and its opposite side, slavery. Lincoln and America shared a common life journey. Even more interesting is that the Natural Soul of the USA is also a Nine (9), the same as Lincoln's, and, therefore, it's Material Soul is, like Lincoln's, also a 5! The Soul and Material Soul energies identify the needs, wants, desires of an individual or entity. These dynamic energies constitute the fire-in-the-belly. They are what motivate an individual. In this case, freedom (5) for all humanity (9). America, like Lincoln, possesses a natural desire to be a great universal power (9) for freedom (5) and their identical lifepath lessons were to experience these issues. Thus, what could be more appropriate? What could be more perfect than a country and its greatest president to share the exact same Lifepath, Soul and Material Soul? And some people think life is happenstance! No such thing. Life is an immaculately perfect divine design, an interwoven cosmic tapestry of the most intricate dimensions. The Lincoln/America connection is one reflection of this fundamental principle of all life in this creation.

Expression

Abraham Lincoln's Simple Expression was a Six (6). This gave him a fatherly demeanor, a character trait strongly centered in the home, heart and hearth. In effect, although Lincoln had to make tough decisions in his role as president, his main thrust was based in compassion and what was good for the family, in this case the family of the United States. When one reads his writings, one is left with no doubt that Lincoln's love for keeping the "family" together was paramount. Yes, that required a strong father's hand, but without it America would most likely not have grown into the magnanimous and gracious Lady she is, giving more aid in time of need than any other country in the world and standing as a beacon for freedom like no other. So much of her character can be directly traced to her Sixteenth President, Abraham Lincoln.

PE (Performance/Experience)

The PE rules the role we play in life. It is the actor (Expression) reading a script (Lifepath) giving a performance (PE or Performance/Experience). It is a combination of the Expression number plus the Lifepath number. For Lincoln, then, it was his Six (6) Expression plus his Five (5) Lifepath (6 + 5 = 11-2). The role in life as established by the PE may not be what we want, and, in fact, may be the exact opposite of what we want, but it will be what we get. It is inescapable, and it is established long before our birth by higher powers. Why? Only God knows. Lincoln's PE was an Eleven/Two (11-2). Two (2), among other things, rules opposites and opposing forces; war and peace, equality and inequality. It is the number of adversarial relationship including contention, opposition, confliction. Lincoln was an attorney by trade - a definite profession of advocators and adversaries. This law background would definitely become a powerful asset in Lincoln's ability to keep a country founded on law and order together. But it was also this 11-2 energy placing him in the throws of civil war - of one brother against another brother. The Eleven can be represented as two Ones, i.e., two egos or two distinct principles, in conflict. The highest expression of the 11-2 is peace, and it was Lincoln's role in life, his PE, to create that peace among opposing forces.

Soul & Material Soul

These were mentioned earlier. Both Lincoln and the United States of America shared a common Lifepath of Five (5), a common Soul of Nine (9) and a common Material Soul of Five (5).

Nature

The Nature may be regarded as a person's personality. It also represents the manner in which a person does things and is determined from the consonants in the natal name. Lincoln's Natural Nature was a Six (6), further corroborating his Six Expression and fatherly nature. It's interesting to consider what might have become of America if Lincoln did not have any Six energy in his name. Luckily for U.S. history sake, he did. His compassion and nurturing personality softened the harsh and dramatic injuries and devastation of America's Civil War. He was, indeed, a father to all people in America.

Material Nature

This second personality energy was an 11-2 in Lincoln's chart. Here again, we see a corroborating energy, this Material Nature matching his PE energy. Lincoln was imbued with an understanding of equality and inequality. The number Two also rules support and balance. This Two (2) coupled with his nurturing Six (6) boded well for America. No dual combination is more relationship and nurturing oriented than that of the Two-Six (2-6). Yet, as we know, the Two can be adversarial. Although compassionate, Lincoln was up to the task of fighting the good fight and bringing balance to an unstable situation. It is really a unique combination.

Although Abraham Lincoln's Basic Matrix is telling, it does not supply all the answers to his greatness. Therefore, we must look deeper into his life and its path. This we will do in "Abraham Lincoln, Part Two."
